Connecting Essay 2

In the picture above it is clear that the photographer has spent a lot of time working on the composition of the photograph and getting the shot exactly right, this is why at the bottom of the picture the road isn't central in the photograph however when you look at the furthest point of the road that can be seen it is in the centre of the photograph. The photographer has really thought about the use of contrasting colours of black and while which works very well and helps to show off the landscape in the snow. The photographer has also used leading lines, on the tyre tracks, to draw you into the photograph.

The image above is my own image and there are some similarities to the first images. I have also used leading lines of type tracks to capture the audience and draw them into the photograph. I had to turn my photograph black and white because it didn't work well in colour and I felt that it worked better in black and white and I was able to change the contest to make the tracks darker. The dark trees in the back contrast the thin layer of snow on the ground  and highlight the weather in the photograph.

The biggest connection between the two images is the use of contrasting colours of black and white to make the path stand out. Another connection is that both the photographs show journey due to the fact that both of them show car tracks going off into the audience. One thing that differs between the picture is that in my own photograph there are many different tracks showing many different journeys where as in the first photograph there is only one clear track giving the sense of a single direction.
