Composite Images - Straight Images

For this image I took an image of a water bottle and a man diving into a lake. I selected around the man diving and rubbed out the background around him. I then moved the diving man over so that it laid on top of the water bottle. I then changed the size of the man in order the make it look like he is diving into the bottle. I also edited the direction of which the man is diving in order to make the image look as realistic as possible.

Work Diary - Composite Images

This lesson we learnt  a technique of how to manipulate photos to create something that isn't real. Originally I struggled with coming up with ideas of what to manipulate however once I created one I got the idea I was able to create them freely. I like creating this as I enjoy using Photoshop and seeing what I can come up with. I only created 5 images so below is one of the images that I created that I liked.

I really like this creation as it works well together and both components link well together. I like that it looks real even though it is clearly fake. I took a while to get the size of the person right but I like how it ended up looking. I think this works well and really shows off the idea of photo manipulation and how it can work well together.  This is favourite creation because I spent a lot of time on it and I feel like it works really well together.

Progression

I would like to create more photo manipulations but using my own photographs as I feel it is hard to create manipulations when you don't really know the photo and when you have to spend a lot of time looking for the photo which you want. I would also like to create more complex manipulation with more parts.

Image Bank - Composite Images

I like this photo because the manipulation of the size of the baby has been really well done. It looks extremely realistic and looks like the baby naturally fits there and that is where it belongs. I like this photo because even though you know that the baby doesn't belong there you can't help but feel like the picture is perfect. The size manipulation has worked really well and therefore the photo works well as a whole. The photo is very simple to highlight the manipulation of the photo and to make it clear that something has changed in the photo.

I like this photo because it has been manipulated and given a slightly eerie effect as the umbrella is standing up on its own. The image has been manipulated to look like this in the setting with the bird resting on the umbrella like it is. I like this image because the manipulation is very subtle and simple and therefore I like this photo because all the elements are linked together correctly and nothing looks out of place.

In this photo the swimmers have been manipulated to look as if the starting blocks are the keys on the piano. In this image the manipulation is clear as people are to large to dive of piano keys. I like this because it gives an idea of surrealism as people are not really this size.  I like that in this photo everything works perfectly and fits together even though the things would never fit together in real life.

I like this photograph as it has been manipulate in to something that makes no sense as you can not have a person doing butterfly in the middle of the road. This photo has been manipulated very well and appears very natural. I like that this photo really does defy all odds as people would never believe that they could see this but now they can. I like that this photo is well edited and the water seems to go back a long way and look like it goes on for miles just like the road.

I like how the ship has been put inside the bottle and gives the ship in a bottle saying a whole different meaning. I like the attention to detail that has been put in to the editing with the ship under the sea. I like that the ship fits perfectly in the bottle and I also like that the bottle is actually on the sea and it looks like it is going to get taken out to sea at some point.

I like this image because it is extremely simple yet works so well. It looks like her body is missing because you can see exactly what is behind her. I like that it appear that her body is missing and it really does look like that because the edit has been done so well. I have created images like this before and really enjoyed creating them as I feel like they work together particularly well.

Definition Post - Composite Images

The creation of a composite image is to transform a photograph into a desired image

In this photo the size of the person taking a photo has been manipulated to make it look like he is massive and the person is actually really small.

In this photo the man mowing the lawn has been manipulated to make it look like he is really small and is shaving a mans beard. The manipulation of this photo has caused the photo to become surrealist.

In this image the lightbulb and pear have been manipulated to look like they are one item and actually belong together. The photographer has even included the inside of the lightbulb in the pear to make it look even more realistic.

This photo has a very strong meaning as it is like he is putting out days on his life by smoking. This photo uses photo manipulation to help people realise what smoking is doing.

Ethical and Personal Issues

One ethical issue with manipulating images is that it can cause human distress as people may believe that the picture is real and they may begin to become scared of the image that has been created. This is important when manipulating images of animal as people may fear the animal that you have created.

Another ethical issue is if the photo is manipulated to the point where it creates a false image and people want to look like something that isn't real and something that they can not ever look like as the image is fake and isn't realistic. These false representation have lead to body issues and people harming their bodies in order to look the like an unrealistic version of their favourite celebrity.

Personal View.

I don't feel like image manipulation is wrong if there is something in the image that you don't like or something that your model doesn't like then I feel like it is okay to change however to manipulate the photo so much that it no longer looks like the original is wrong as it gives a completely false representation as this gives people something to aspire to which is completely false and unobtainable.
