Work Diary - Form
In todays lessons we were tasked with photographing form. I found this hard as I didn't really understand what I was supposed to be photographing however when I went out and began photographing, it became slightly easier as time went on, however this is still the hardest topic we have had so far, I think that this maybe one of the hardest topics during this unit as I struggled to understand exactly what form is.
Below is one of the photographs from the shot that I like.
Camera Setting - 1/200 sec f/7.1 ISO 100
I like this photograph because it is a very natural photograph and I like the photos where people aren't looking directly at the camera. I also like this photo because it shows lots of different forms such as the form of the man, the guitar and the wall. I also like this photo because I think that it shows many different colours that also helps add to the showing of the form in the photographs.
Below is a photo that I don't like from the shoot
I don't like this photo because I don't think it shows form well and I don't like watch the photo is off. The angle of the photograph isn't how I would like it to be I would like it to be closer and from a more diagonal angle to show of the true form of both the bird on top of the lamp post but also of the lamp post itself. I would also edit the photo and make it black and white to really show of the form featured in the photo.
Progression
If I were to shoot form again I would focus more on getting the photos from good angles and making sure I was close enough to the subject of the photograph to really show off the form of the subject. I would also attempt to take photos that would show form well in colour as I don't feel I took many photos this week that looked good in colour.

Image Bank - Form
I like this photo because it clearly shows form and shows the form of the pen from the nib all the way to the top of the photo. I like how the nib of the pen is in focus but the rest of the photo is blurred. I like this photo because it clearly shows form. I think that the use of black and white really helps show off the form in the photo and really helps to make the form within the photographs helps show off the form, and the fact that you can see a shadow with in the photo helps to show the form and adds to the depth of the photograph and shows form well.
I chose this photo to be in my image bank because I really feel that the it shows form very clearly. You can clearly see the shape of the chess pieces showing off their form very well. Another reason I like this photo is because even though the pieces in the background are blurred you can still clearly see their form allowing you to appreciate them as well. I think this photo looks good in black and white and means that the different tones within the photo can also be well seen.
I really like this photograph because I like how you can see the form of the human being through the shadow while not having the actual human being in the photograph, this is a really good photo for showing the main parts of the human body. I like this photo and this is an editing technique that I would like to learn how to do as I think this is a very clever photo.
I like this photo because it clearly shows the form of fingers and the detail of the fingers. I also like the different shading and how it really shows the different features of the of the fingers. The use of black and white on this photos shows the real detail in the fingers and allows the real detail of each finger, and the black on the white highlights this.
I like this photo because of the form is repeated and shows clear shape and clear tone. I think this photo is extremely clever and the form is clear. This photo show both the form of the human and the form of the skateboard. The use of the shadow shows of the form very well and in this photo the use of colour adds to the photo and really helps to show the form off well.
I like this photo because there is a clear and precise form. The form stands and shows depth and give the photo a 3D effect. The 3D effect really shows off the form and of the shell and so do the lines on the shell all these features help show off the form of the photo and really allows the viewer to see the detail and true shape of the shell.

Natural light and colour - the natural light in this photo helps its form to be clearly seen and the lack of colour, black and white, also helps to show the form of the photo.
The use of light and shadows has helped to show the form of the photo, if light that was too strong was used in the photo then all of the toes would not be seen and the form wouldn't be seen.
The use of colour in the background has been well used as it helps to show off the form and gives the photo depth and the different tones of the colour help to show of the form well.
Having the main focus point in the middle of the photo helps show form because to viewers eyes are instantly drawn to shape of the photo and how the form has been photographed
Personal Defintion - how an object is seen as 3D due to the shadows and different lighting.

Work Diary - Pattern
In todays afternoon lesson we were tasked with photographing pattern. I didn't really understand what this was as I felt that it would be very hard having photographed texture just a few days before and I felt that they were very similar. However once I had seen a small presentation of what could be photographed for pattern I had a better understanding of what I could take. During our shooting time I went on a walk around the town and around the college, I found that there was more to photograph than I thought there would be.
Below is one of the photos that I took during this shoot that I like
Camera Settings - 1/125 sec f/5.6 ISO 125
The reason I like this photograph is because it shows a clear pattern, that is repeated throughout the photograph, I like this photo because the pattern is clear in it and shows of the pattern well, the angle that the photo is taken at helps to show the pattern as well, the pattern is 3D and this is shown through the different shapes and depths shown within the photo. I like this photo because of the clear pattern that features within the photograph.
However I did not like all the photographs I took below is one photo that I too that I didn't like
I don't like this photo as I don't think that it shows much pattern and I don't think that it is a particularly good photo. I don't like the angle that it is taken as it is just straight forward, there is no different angle and not really much skill involved in taking this photograph. I don't like it because I don't feel like it shows the topic particularly well.
Progression
If I were to go out a shoot pattern I would try and go to a more rural setting and try to show different more natural patterns as I feel that many of the patterns I shoot today are very man made and not very natural, i would like to show more natural patterns and natural occurrences of pattern within the natural world. I would also look at different angles in which to shoot the pattern as a away in which to truly show of the pattern in the best way. I would also look for patterns that are not always obvious in everyday life.
Snake Skin
Kiwi
Cracks
Rows of Chairs
Image Bank - Pattern
I like this photo because there is a clear pattern through out the photo. I like the there is a clear distance between each part helping to keep the pattern together. I like the use of analogous colours this also adds to the pattern as it is easy see a consistent pattern through out the picture. I like that the pattern continues all the way to the back even tohugh the photo blurs the pattern can still be seen and it is highlighted by the analogous colours.
I also chose this photo to go in my image bank because it shows a very different pattern, a pattern that I had never really taken notice of before now, the pattern of slicing bread into equal sizes. I like this photo because it shows a clear pattern that established at the left had side of the photo. The photo uses a line to shoe off the pattern and make it complete as it keeps the viewers attention on the main subject of the photo as it uses a leading line. I like this photo as it uses a simple pattern and there is not too much going on with in the photograph and this allows the viewers focus to be kept on the main subject of the photograph.
I like this photo as it shows a pattern between the shells but also a different pattern on each of the shells. I like this photo because there is a lot to keep the eyes busy and there is a lot to different patterns to look at meaning that the attention of the viewer is kept for a really long time. The many different shells keep the viewers attention because they are so many different sizes and shapes but also the different patterns, there is so much going on within the photograph that it keeps the viewers attention for a long time.
I like this photo because it has a clear pattern that goes round and draws you in to the photograph. The pattern of going round and round, meaning that your attention is keep until you reach the centre of the photograph. The pattern is simple to follow as it allows you to keep up with the pattern and allow you to see the entirety of the photo. The pattern also shows the depths of the main subject of the photograph. The different colour featuring in the middle of the photograph also draws to the viewers the middle of the picture and shows of the pattern as the viewers attention is drawn to the centre of the picture.
I like the pattern of the coral in this in the photograph because it means that you can see all of the different hole in which fish and other sea creatures could swim in and out of. I like the angle that the photo is taken at as it really shows the pattern well and shows that it is a continuing pattern. The angle of the photograph is really well planned out and shows of the pattern and the detail really well and really shows off the 3D pattern from the coral.
This is the final photo in my image bank, I have chosen to put this in my image bank because it shows a repeating pattern. The pattern in this photo is very clear and is clearly the main focus of the photograph even though there is something else in the background of the photograph you easy do not really register what is in the background as your eyes are too focused on the pattern in the foreground of the photograph.

This photo uses a clear pattern and the patterns add to the photo to make it 3D. The photo follows a set pattern and this means that the photo has a clear pattern,
This pattern is a break pattern, this is where there is a clear pattern but there is one thing that breaks this pattern, the red apple breaks the pattern and becomes the main focus of the photo and is where your eyes are instantly.
This photo contains multiple different patterns such as the pattern of dot on the basket ball and the pattern of lines around the ball. The use to 2 patterns really shows off the patterns along wit the different colours.
The pattern in this photo is clear but the different colours make the pattern look very mismatch and very interesting. The colour in the photo draws you in and all the different colours keep your interest.
Personal defintion - the repetition of an item in order to create a design.
